Hey cat friends—we’ve got a new update for you about the situation in China, where we’re printing the game.

Coronavirus & Printing Delays

I am saddened to say that our printer, Panda, and its employees are facing this terrible coronavirus health crisis that has affected so many people. Our hearts go out to them as many employees are advised to stay home to avoid being exposed.

How does this affect Wizard Kittens? Unfortunately, it also means the production of the game has to be delayed. Panda is closing down its printers for now, but they plan on reopening as soon as it is safe to do so. Even after they reopen, they will be contending with a backlog of other production, which means that this delay is going to be compounded quite a bit.

This means that our new estimate for delivering Wizard Kittens is June 2020.

We and our partners at Panda are still dedicated to making sure we are doing everything we can to get your games to you as soon as possible. I would like to thank you all, in advance, for your patience as we manage the impacts of this health crisis.

Next Steps

For now, you can count on having Wizard Kittens in your paws sometime in June, but we will update you all with a more specific shipping date as soon as we have one.

 Happy new year, everykitty!

New PPC!

We got a new PPC—pre-production copy—of Wizard Kittens box and it’s perrrrfect.

We are over the moon with how beautiful this new copy of box is! Kitties and magic everywhere, I have to say it is a beautiful looking game. We were also able to make some fun additions to the magical edition of the cover from glittering stardust to glowing arcane symbols,  I know you are all going to love it!

Panda on Holiday & Next Steps

Our printer partner, Panda, is out for the Chinese new year holiday, but once they return Wizard Kittens production will be moving again.

There are just a couple more PPC components we need to see before the printers start making your copies. Since the size of the box changed a bit from the last PPC, we have to make sure we’re happy with the new tray for the core box.

Once Panda is back from holiday we will approve the final components and get the final production schedule from them. At that time we'll have an update on shipping (including when we will charge you all for shipping).

Wizard Kittens PPC!

Hey there kitty comrades! Time to let you know where things stand here at the end of the year!

PPC Arrived!

We got in the PPC—pre-production copy—of pretty much all of Wizard Kittens! Everything is looking pretty fantastic! Our friends at Panda did an amazing job!

We have a few things to check up on and improve, but we are very, very close to hitting print on the whole thing. Wizard KIttens will be shipping out before you know it!

Next Steps

As we said above, there are a few details to iron out for the contents of the PPC. We also have to make sure we’re happy with the tray that will come inside the core box. But those things are final details on the process—basically everything is all but complete, and we’re very happy with it!

Once we’re settled with the final elements for all our items, we’ll tell Panda to start printing! It’ll probably be about 1 - 2 months after they start printing that we’ll actually get the pallets of the games, and then we’ll start shipping out to you.

So thank you all so much for your continued support and patience! We’re almost ready to get this feisty magical kitties to your doors, and we can’t wait for you to get playing!

Wizard Kittens In Pre-Press!

Wizard Kittens In Pre-Press!

The game and all its goodies are currently in pre-press with our printer, Panda Games Manufacturing. Pre-press means we’ve passed off the final digital files and are working with the printer to approve them for their machines. In the following weeks we will start receiving a physical proofs!

We are really excited to be working with Panda again! We printed our first card-based roleplaying game, Zombie World, with Panda over the last year, and they have been a wonderful partner. We are sure they will make these kittens as magical as possible!

Convention Plans

Wizard Kittens may also be making the rounds to some conventions near you next year!

First up is the GAMA Trade Show (March 2020) where we will be showing off the game to distributors and retailers so they can bring Wizard Kittens to everyone who didn’t back the Kickstarter! We are sure that many, many game stores owners will fall in love with these cute cats!

Next up after GAMA is Origins (June 2020) in Columbus, OH! Wizard Kittens will be showing up in full force with a Wizard Kitten booth, including cool demo space. We hope you stop by and say hello!

We may also be making an appearance at UK Games Expo! The Magpie team is currently looking into making the journey to the UK and bringing those mischievous wizard kittens along for the ride!

Wizard Kittens Production Update

We have some very exciting news…. 

We upgraded the Chaos Cat cards! We decided that to bring you all the very best experience, Chaos Cat needed some more room to shine. So, instead of 4 identical images of Chaos Cat, each card has a unique picture of chaos cat being irresistibly adorable!  

The game is also through editing and proofing and THAT means it is almost ready for print! 

While this is very exciting news, it also means there is a lot of back and forth with the printer that needs to happen. We ask for your patience while we work out all the details and formatting concerns that need to be done during this next step. 

We will update you all again as soon as we have some more exciting news to share! 

Magpie Games at GenCon 2019

Obviously, Wizard Kittens will not be available at GenCon this year, but if you are going to the convention the Magpie Games crew will be there!
